privacy · grid · controllersNo. Launching, mixing, arranging, export and clip generation all run on your Mac or iPad, and there is no Silo account or telemetry. The app's only internet traffic is the model download you approve. The only optional sharing is Selected Project Sharing on Mac, which starts off and gives a local assistant app you connect read-only names, tempo, key and layout for up to 50 projects you pick. It never sees audio or files, and that app may forward what it receives under its own policies.
Columns are instruments (drums, bass, lead, melody, pad, FX, vocal and percussion) and rows are scenes. Tap a pad to launch its clip, or a scene number to launch the whole row; while the grid is playing, launches wait for the next bar, half bar or beat, whichever you set. Each column plays one clip at a time, and tapping a playing pad stops it.
OhmsGrid includes profiles for Novation Launchpad X, Launchpad Mini MK3 and Launchpad Pro MK3, Ableton Push 2 and Push 3, and Akai APC mini mk2 and APC40 mkII. Pad lights show whether each clip is loaded, queued, playing or generating, and the side buttons on the Launchpads and Push launch scenes. The profiles have not yet been checked on physical hardware, so lights or buttons may differ on your unit; please tell us if they do. Other note-based grids can launch clips through a generic 8×8 layout you turn on in MIDI settings, without pad lights.
Open the Grid with no pad selected. The Controller panel in the Inspector names the connected controller and the profile driving it. Once you choose an LED output in MIDI settings, it mirrors the pad lights OhmsGrid sends, plus the scene lights on profiles that map scene buttons. A controller OhmsGrid does not recognize gets no lights; turn on the generic 8×8 grid in MIDI settings to launch clips from its pads.
Yes. OhmsGrid includes an Audio Unit instrument. Loaded clips sync to it, and it plays each pad from a MIDI note inside an AUv3 host such as Logic Pro, GarageBand or AUM, stretched to the host's tempo.
Tap an empty pad and OhmsGrid writes a clip on your own device in the project's key and tempo, sized for that column's instrument. Autofill does every empty pad in one pass, shows its progress and can be cancelled. Generation needs a one-time download you approve: about 10.1 GB for the Mac engine (macOS 15 or later) or 6.0 GB for the iPad engine (an iPad with at least 12 GB of memory), checked before first use.
Not any more. Ohm Split is the Silo app for pulling a song apart: split it there, then load the parts onto pads on your Mac like any other audio file. Stems you extracted with an earlier version of OhmsGrid keep playing in your saved projects.
Only for that one-time download. The six demo pads, audio import, mixing, arranging and export work without it, and after the download clip generation works offline too.
