Silo Snip.

Copy the text your Mac will not let you select.

A subtitle on a paused video, a label in a settings pane, the words in a screenshot or a scanned PDF, a message in a window with no Copy command. Press ⇧⌘2 in any app, pull the crosshair across the words, and they are on your clipboard, ready to paste.

01 · One loop

Nothing to file, nothing to manage.

There is no document, no library and no history to prune. A shortcut, a crosshair and a clipboard write are the whole loop, so the seconds it saves are not spent tidying up after it. The only window is Settings, and it opens on its own only while macOS still needs your Screen Recording permission.

02 · Any script

It works out the language.

Recognition runs on this Mac with the text recognition built into macOS, so there is no model to download. The default setting identifies the script by itself: English, accented European text, Japanese, Korean and Chinese come through without touching a setting. If one language keeps coming back in the wrong script, pin it in Settings.

03 · Write-only

It never reads your clipboard.

Silo Snip writes your clipboard and never reads it, so it never sees what you copied somewhere else. The screen image is released from memory once its text is read, and the text it keeps for Snip and Append is dropped two minutes after your last snip. The app also holds no networking entitlement, so the sandbox refuses every connection.

What it does
SN/01
A shortcut you choose.

⇧⌘2 works from any app, in any Space, whether or not Silo Snip is in front. Record a different combination in Settings. If another app already owns one, the menu bar says so. Silo Snip can also start at login.

Global · Configurable
SN/02
A crosshair, then out of the way.

Pull it across the text on any display. Escape cancels. On release the text is copied and a small notice gives the character count.

Multi-display · Escape to cancel
SN/03
Lines the way they were.

Words on one visual line stay together, so a label keeps its value beside it and pasted text keeps its line breaks. The region is captured at your display's full pixel density, which is what accuracy depends on.

Layout-aware
SN/04
It tells you when it failed.

A region with no readable text gets a brief notice saying the clipboard was left as it was, so you never paste something older without knowing.

Honest failure
SN/05
The same area, again.

The crosshair draws your last rectangle dashed. Press Return instead of dragging and it reads that area again: the next subtitle line, a counter that changed, a log that moved on.

Return to repeat
SN/06
Collect, then paste once.

Snip and Append puts each new snip on the line below the last, as long as the last was within two minutes, so a name from one window and an address from another paste as one block.

⌥⇧⌘2 · Append
What it does not do
Silo Snip stops at plain text on the clipboard.

It does not rebuild a table, decode a QR code, or answer questions about what it read.
