privacy · permissions · modelsNo. Recording, transcription, and summarization all run on your Mac. There's no cloud LLM, no bot joining your calls, no account, and no telemetry. The only thing that ever crosses the network is the optional, consent-gated download of the model weights themselves over HTTPS — the app deliberately has no inbound-server capability at all.

ScreenCaptureKit is Apple's supported API for capturing the system audio playing through your Mac — the remote participants in a Zoom, Meet, or Teams call — and macOS gates that API behind the Screen Recording permission. Silo Transcribe takes audio samples only: no screen pixels, screenshots, or video frames are ever captured, stored, or transmitted. The Microphone permission covers your own voice; the two streams are mixed on-device.
OpenAI's open Whisper model (large-v3-turbo by default), running locally via MLX with Metal acceleration on your Apple Silicon GPU. Audio is processed in 30-second chunks as the meeting happens, and transcripts distinguish what came from your microphone versus the meeting's system audio.
By a local Gemma model running on-device via MLX. It produces the summary, action items, decisions, and participants from your transcript — nothing is sent to a hosted AI service, and the output is stored on your Mac alongside the transcript.
Yes. Every transcript is indexed into a local SQLite full-text search index, so you can search across all your sessions instantly. The database lives in the app's container on your Mac.
