Nothing collected.

Your samples, recordings, live motions, and sound remain on your Mac or iPad.

The short version

Ohms Terrain does not collect, track, sell, share, or transmit personal data or user content to Silo Systems.

The app has no account, sign-in, analytics, telemetry, advertising, profiling, tracking, cloud audio processor, or network audio processor. Audio decoding, recording, sequencing, DSP, local search, and instrument state run on-device.

Optional file access

Ohms Terrain reads an audio file or sample-library folder only after you select it. A captured take is written as MIDI or WAV only after you choose Export and select a destination. Imported audio is decoded and processed locally; the app does not upload imported or exported files or receive authority over files and folders you did not select.

Optional microphone access

The standalone app can use the microphone for local recording and sound-on-sound overdub. Record first opens a confirmation. Access begins only after you confirm, and the app shows requesting, recording, and stopped phases with a live input level. A finished capture is staged beside the current sample until you choose Use Recording, Use & Layer, or Keep Current. A failed or discarded capture leaves the loaded sample unchanged. Captured audio remains on-device unless you explicitly export a file.

Denying microphone permission leaves file import, Terrain performance, sequencing, MIDI, stretch, and AUv3 use available.

Optional Mac system-audio access

On macOS only, Sample Anything can receive recent system audio into a bounded 60-second in-memory ring. ScreenCaptureKit requires Screen & System Audio Recording permission and a display filter, but Ohms Terrain registers only audio output and does not receive, store, or transmit screen frames. Finishing the capture stages a local candidate; the loaded sample remains active until you explicitly accept the candidate.

Output-only AUv3

The embedded Ohms Terrain AUv3 is an output-only aumu instrument. It generates audio, accepts no host audio input, and has no microphone or system-capture path.

Local storage and App Group handoff

Sample references or local copies and instrument handoff state are stored in the app's local containers. Portable .ohmsterrain project packages embed exact copies of the project's audio and state and are written only to a destination you select; opening reads only the package you choose. Motion loops persist when included in a saved project and otherwise last for the current run. A two-slot app-support recovery snapshot keeps the current and optionally kept working sessions on this device. The standalone app and AUv3 share only the user-selected sample and instrument state needed for handoff through Apple App Group group.com.silosystems.terrain. That container is local between the two signed targets; it is not a server or third-party disclosure.

Outbound activity

Ohms Terrain itself sends no audio, user content, usage events, or personal information to Silo Systems. The only outbound classes declared by the product are App Store update delivery handled by Apple and links you explicitly choose to open in your browser.

Privacy manifest and local system APIs

The app and extension privacy manifests declare tracking false, no tracking domains, and no collected data types. They also declare required-reason categories for local file timestamps, UserDefaults settings, and system boot-time timing. A required-reason declaration describes local operating-system API use; it does not mean data is collected or transmitted.

Retention and deletion

Imported source files remain where you placed them. App-created edits, captures, indexes, and App Group handoff files remain local under Apple's app containers until replaced or deleted. You control exported files through the destination you choose. Removing the app and its local data removes the app-managed content; files you exported elsewhere remain yours.

Children's privacy

Ohms Terrain is intended for a 4+ App Store rating. Because the app collects no personal data from any user, the same no-collection policy applies regardless of age.

Changes

Any future permission, collected data type, tracking behavior, account, analytics, cloud processing, or outbound service requires an explicit product change and a coordinated update to the app manifest, privacy manifests, App Store disclosure, and this page before release.
