OhmsCounsel makes no internet requests: import, text extraction, every check, your decisions and notes, and report export all happen on your Mac, in a private helper that listens only on this Mac. There is no account, no analytics, and no telemetry. Earlier versions, including 1.8.1, also offered an optional Bring Your Own Key mode that sent document text, questions and playbook positions directly from your Mac to the provider you configured, plus an optional model download and model-catalog check that carried none of your documents.

Fixed rules report quoted terms that are used but never defined, defined twice, defined and never used, or capitalized inconsistently; “as defined in Section 4.2” pointers that lead to a section which does not define the term; section numbers that skip, repeat, run out of order, or lack a parent section; references to sections, exhibits, schedules, or annexes that do not exist, and attachments nothing refers to; party names that change between the preamble, the body, and the signature block; amounts whose words and digits disagree; and renewal notice periods longer than the renewal term. Choose Verify Agreement from the Review menu (Command-R).

No. Every check is a fixed rule, so the same text always gives the same findings and there is nothing to download. Earlier versions offered model-based summaries, clause playbooks, draft comparison, document chat, and an optional cloud key. Those are gone, and when the current version starts it deletes the model files and stored provider keys earlier versions left on this Mac. Summaries, risk flags, playbook comparison, and clause-level redlines are in a Legal / Contracts vault in Silo Vault.

PDF, DOCX, plain text, and Markdown. The rules read English-language drafting. A scanned PDF needs a selectable text layer; if a PDF has none, export it with a text layer or import the DOCX or text version.

Select it to open the exact passage it came from, with the page when the PDF keeps page breaks. Confirm or reject it and save a reviewer note if you like: your wording is kept apart from the automated finding, and the imported file is never changed. Save the reviewed report as Markdown or PDF to the folder you choose.

No. OhmsCounsel checks document mechanics such as defined terms, numbering, and references. It is not legal advice, does not create an attorney-client relationship, and does not tell you whether a contract is fair or complete.

Yes. Deleting an agreement in Import removes its imported file, extracted text, page map, decisions, and notes after an explicit confirmation. A report you saved to a folder of your choosing is never deleted by the app.
