Privacy policy.
We collect nothing. Tokens, contrast, and tables are worked out on this Mac. Code presets reach only a provider you allowed by name, or a model server on this Mac. In version 1.0.1, every preset sends the image while a cloud provider is active.
The short version
Silo Systems / Ohm collects no data about you. There is no Ohms Lens account, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting to us, and no Ohm server. Your screenshots never reach us.
Three tools never use the network. Design Tokens, Contrast Audit, and Visual Table use Apple Vision and local color extraction. They run on this Mac whichever provider is selected, including when a cloud key is saved. Their images never leave this Mac. Version 1.0.1 works differently: saving a cloud API key while On-Device is selected makes that cloud provider the active one, and while a cloud provider with a saved key is active, every preset, including Design Tokens, Visual Table, Contrast, and the Copy Text preset that later versions leave to Silo Snip, sends the image to it. In 1.0.1, set Active provider to On-Device on the API Keys tab or in Settings before analyzing anything that should stay on this Mac.
The code presets are optional and use your own model. SwiftUI, React with Tailwind, Flutter, HTML, Mermaid, and LaTeX need a vision model you connect. When you run one with a cloud provider active, the screenshot or imported image is sent from your Mac to that provider, authenticated with the API key you saved. A model server on this Mac at 127.0.0.1:11434 keeps that traffic on loopback.
Nothing goes to a cloud provider you have not allowed. Saving a key opens a dialog that names the provider. Until you choose Enable Cloud Inference, nothing is sent to it, and choosing Keep On-Device Only leaves everything on this Mac.
Silo Systems is not a party to the request, operates no proxy, and receives no copy. What the provider does with the image is governed by their privacy policy, including whether they retain or train on uploads.
What we don't have, and therefore never see
Because Ohms Lens has no server-side component, none of the following exists in our infrastructure: your name or email; your IP address or device identifier; your screenshots, imported images, or model output; usage or behavioural data. The app never contacts a Silo Systems server; its only network requests are the provider requests described below.
Capture and import
Capture Screen takes one still of your main display, with Ohms Lens's own windows left out, and only when you choose it. It uses ScreenCaptureKit and the system Screen Recording prompt. Anything else visible on that display is in the still, so if you then run a code preset with a cloud provider active, that whole still goes to the provider. Import uses the system open panel, and the file you pick is the only one the sandbox can read. Declining Screen Recording leaves Import Image and Analyze Sample Image working. Ohms Lens never captures in the background.
Providers you connect, and what reaches them
A cloud provider you add on the API Keys tab and allow receives, at the moment you run a code preset with it active:
- The screenshot or imported image as image data.
- The preset prompt describing the job, plus any one-line instruction you typed to steer the result.
That is all. It goes over HTTPS directly from your Mac to that provider. The model server at 127.0.0.1 never leaves the machine. If a code preset has no model set up, Ohms Lens tells you so and offers Design Tokens instead; nothing is sent.
A local pass masks API keys and access tokens in the text a code preset's model returns, before it reaches your clipboard, and shows how many it masked. It is on by default and can be switched off in the Inspector. It never changes on-device results, and it cannot recall an image already sent.
Where your keys live
API keys are stored in the macOS Keychain, scoped to com.silosystems.ohmslens. They are never written to output, history, or preferences, and they are never transmitted to Silo Systems. Deleting a key removes its Keychain item and withdraws your permission for that provider.
Other outbound traffic you initiate
- App Store updates. Apple delivers them. Ohms Lens is not involved.
- Links you click. Your default browser handles the request.
Permissions we request, and why
- Screen recording. Asked only when you choose Capture Screen, which takes one still of the whole main display, not a region you select. When that capture goes to a provider, the whole still is sent, so import a cropped image when only part of the screen should leave this Mac. Declining it leaves Import Image and Analyze Sample Image.
- Files you choose. Read the image you import and write the output you save.
- Outgoing network. Never used by Design Tokens, Contrast Audit, or Visual Table (in version 1.0.1, any preset uses it while a cloud provider is active). Used only to reach the cloud provider you allowed or the model server on
127.0.0.1.
On-device data you create
Your last 40 results, your settings, and the record of which providers you allowed live in the app container for com.silosystems.ohmslens. Delete single results or clear them all from the History tab. Saved output stays where you put it. Removing the app may leave its sandbox container; use macOS storage controls to clear it.
Children's privacy
Silo Systems collects no personal data from any user. Connecting a third-party AI provider is an adult decision governed by that provider's own terms and minimum-age rules.
Changes
If we ever materially change how Ohms Lens handles data, we will publish an updated version of this page. The current policy is: Silo Systems collects nothing; tokens, contrast, and tables stay on this Mac (in version 1.0.1, only while On-Device is selected); code presets send an image only to a provider you allowed or to a model server on this Mac.
