The short version
Silo Gif collects no data. There is no account, analytics, telemetry, advertising identifier, crash beacon, or hosted conversion service. Your source video, frames, settings, and exported GIF stay on the device where you use the app.
The app uses Apple's AVFoundation, Core Image, Image I/O, PhotoKit, and Uniform Type Identifiers frameworks locally to inspect a chosen video, read the motion component of a chosen Live Photo, and write an animated GIF. These are local operations; Silo Gif does not upload the source or a thumbnail for processing.
Files and Photos permissions
- Chosen videos and files. Silo Gif can read a video you explicitly import through the document picker or share extension. On macOS, the sandbox grants access to that chosen file rather than to your whole disk.
- Photos and Live Photos. On iPhone and iPad, you can choose a video or Live Photo through the system picker. Photo access is requested only for the item and action you initiate.
- Export destinations.When you save to Photos, Files, or a location you select, Apple's system UI handles that destination. Silo Gif does not receive a copy beyond the export you requested.
Silo Gif does not request Contacts, Location, Camera, Microphone, or Full Disk Access.
Outbound traffic you initiate
Silo Gif has no app-owned server. The only network activity associated with using it is traffic you initiate outside the converter itself:
- App Store updates. Apple delivers updates through the App Store. Silo Gif does not participate in that request.
- Links and shares you choose.If you tap a link or share an exported GIF, the destination app or your browser handles that request. Silo Gif does not receive a copy of the destination's response.
Local data and cleanup
During an export, Silo Gif may create temporary frame and palette data in its application container. It removes the temporary workspace after a successful or cancelled conversion; the source file remains where you chose it. The finished GIF is written only to the destination you select. Deleting the app removes its private container according to Apple's platform rules.
Children's privacy
Silo Gif is not designed to collect personal information from anyone, including children. The same no-data-collected policy applies to every user.
Changes
If the app ever changes its data practices, we will update this page, describe the change in release notes, and request any new permission through Apple's system UI before using it. The current policy is: the converter collects no data.
