The short version
Silo Systems LLC does not collect, sell, share, or transmit personal data through Ohms Sample.
The app has no account, analytics SDK, advertising SDK, telemetry endpoint, or cloud audio processor. Audio files, recordings, PCM-derived waveforms, slice markers, plugin manifests, and Sample Brain indexes remain on the device.
Optional permissions
- Files and folders you choose. Used to open samples and index a sample-library folder. The app cannot browse folders you did not select.
- Microphone. Used only after you choose Arm Mic in Take and confirm that you want to start. Stopping stages the recording beside the current sample; it does not replace anything until you choose Use Recording.
- Screen & System Audio Recording on macOS. Used only after you start Sample Anything from Take and confirm. ScreenCaptureKit requires a display filter to begin, but Ohms Sample registers only the audio output and never receives or stores screen frames.
Denying any optional permission does not prevent file-based sampling.
Sample Anything
When you start Sample Anything on Mac, captured system audio is resampled into a fixed 60-second in-memory ring. Freezing creates a temporary local candidate beside the loaded sample. You then choose Use Recording or Keep Current. Starting another accepted capture replaces only the prior app-created working capture, stale temporary captures are removed on the next launch, and nothing is uploaded.
Sample Brain
Sample Brain indexes only a folder you choose. Its SQLite FTS5 database contains local paths, filenames, folders, file format, size, modification time, and measured duration/audio format when decoding succeeds. Queries are tokenized locally and never transmitted. Search does not write usage or popularity rankings.
AUv3 sharing
When you explicitly choose Sync AUv3, the standalone app copies the current sample and its 16 slice markers into an Apple App Group container shared only with the Ohms Sample extension. The extension has no microphone, file-picker, screen-capture, or network entitlement.
Network access
Audio work requires no network access. Apple may provide App Store updates and opt-in crash diagnostics under your Apple settings. Links you choose in Help open in your browser under the browser's privacy policy.
Retention and deletion
Imported source files remain where you placed them. Sample Canvas cut, keep, reverse, and time stretch create local working edits while retaining the loaded source for Restore Source; stale app-created edit files are removed on the next launch. Re-indexing reconciles the local Sample Brain index without deleting source audio. You can replace plugin-shared data by syncing another sample and remove app-container data by deleting the app.
