Silo Read.
Your documents, read aloud and searchable — and never read by anyone else.
No upload step. Ever.
Silo Read reads your documents aloud and makes them searchable entirely on your Apple Silicon Mac. The privileged contract, the medical record, the tax return — none of it is ever transmitted anywhere. The only network use is a one-time, consent-gated model download; after that the app works fully offline for the lifetime of the app.
Listen to it and find it.
One ingestion engine takes any PDF, scan, EPUB, or saved article; a natural Kokoro neural voice reads it aloud with sentence highlight-follow, and every page is instantly full-text searchable across your whole library. $29.99 once replaces a $139/yr read-aloud subscription and a $240/yr OCR subscription.
Real text, or a clear label.
Scanned pages are OCR'd to genuine searchable text before anything is read or indexed. No model downloaded yet? A clearly labeled System Voice still reads and the archive still searches. Low-confidence OCR is flagged on the page, never silently narrated or indexed as garbage. No fake progress bars, no invented filenames.
A natural Kokoro neural voice reads PDFs, EPUBs, scans, and saved articles, with the active sentence highlighted in sync, click-any-sentence-to-jump, 0.5–3.0x speed, a sleep timer, and per-document resume.
Scans and image PDFs are OCR'd on import with Apple Vision, then every sentence of every document is full-text indexed (SQLite FTS5) with snippet-highlighted search across thousands of pages.
A separate, optional Gemma model generates per-chapter recaps (labeled generated on-device) and flags legal boilerplate as one-tap skip chips. The app is fully functional without it — nothing is faked when it is not installed.
Render any chapter or selection to .m4a natively and AirDrop it to your iPhone for commute listening. Real per-chapter progress; a failed export surfaces the actual error, never a false success.
